What do we do?
We publish a quarterly newsletter, The BN
Expediter. This is usually 20 pages in length and provides pictures and
articles about the BN and the BNSF railroads. Contributions from members are
encouraged and welcomed. We also hold an annual convention at a city somewhere
along the BN system lines.
How do I join?
Fill out an application blank from the printout
on this website or request one from the Secretary.
What are the dues?
Annual Regular membership dues are $25, Youth (16 and under) are $10. For those wishing
to provide additional support, a Sustaining membership is available at $50 per
year.
Can I get back issues of The BN Expediter?
Your annual membership entitles you to all issues for the year, no matter when
you join during the year. Issues from years past are available for purchase from
the Back Issues. The list of the currently
available issues is published in The BN Expediter.
Are there other materials I can obtain?
We have a limited number if items available. Nameplates and copies of the
book, The Burlington Northern-An Operational Chronology, by John Strauss are
available for purchase from the Company Store.
Other materials regarding maps, equipment, business, history, and other topics
may be available through the Secretary.
In addition, we maintain the BN archives-a small collection of materials available to researchers.
What can I learn?
The BN Expediter has presented articles
about equipment, history, locations, operations, infrastructure, videos, current
events, modeling, business, and other writings on the BN, just to name a few topics.
It also has a question and answer section. In addition, the annual convention offers
the opportunity to share information and experiences with fellow BN enthusiasts and
to learn about and experience the specific location of the
convention.
Can I get help with my questions?
You can contact the Secretary or the
Editor of The BN Expediter with specific
questions.
Can I donate to the Friends of the Burlington Northern Railroad?
We are a 501-(c) (3) non-profit organization under the regulations and definitions
of the IRS. We accept your donations, which may be tax-deductible. Contact the
Secretary or the
President with questions and/or instructions.
Does your archive have records of railroad employees?
No. We do not have access to employee information of any company associated with
BN. See the following link to search for
genealogy information.
